A native of Anderson, Indiana, Lori Mechem received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Lori and her husband Roger Spencer, are the founders of Nashville’s first jazz school, The Nashville Jazz Workshop, where Lori is currently the executive director.

In March 2009, Lori teamed up with producer Jeff Steinberg and executive producer, Greg Howard, and recorded a new project for Green Hill Productions called RETURN TO IPANEMA, a tribute to the music of famed Brazilian songwriter and musician, Antonio Carlos Jobim. Christmas is coming is her holiday jazz tribute to “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” and BRAZILIAN CHRISTMAS adds a little Latin spice to the holidays.

Lori maintains a healthy balance between the Nashville Jazz Workshop, performing and writing. She and her husband, bassist Roger Spencer, also appear regularly on many other Green Hill recordings including Jack Jezzro’s, BOSSA NOVA CHRISTMAS and Denis Solee’s, BLUES IN THE NIGHT.
